For nearly 40 years, we’ve empowered and supported women and children to live free from violence through transitional housing and programs that help them heal and reach their full potential, building a future where every family is safe, valued, and free from all forms of oppression and violence.

Story

Hi everyone:

Over the course of my career in Ottawa, and especially since I became Mayor, I've become increasingly aware of the alarming number of women and children who are fleeing domestic violence.

There is nothing more important than children growing up in a safe environment, free from the trauma associated with domestic violence. So I’ll be running the Ottawa Marathon on May 25 to help Harmony House with this important campaign.

Harmony House has been doing great work in our community for nearly 40 years. They have launched a campaign called Out of the Shadows, Into the Sun, to raise funds for trauma-informed summer camps and after-school programs for children recovering from the effects of violence. These programs help young survivors rediscover joy, build confidence, and begin to heal in a safe, nurturing environment.

I hope you’ll join me in supporting the children and women at Harmony House.

Thank you for your generosity and kindness.

Mark
