Story
Please, if you are able to, donate something, because it honestly is a truly magical cause and it can be completely life changing! As Marsaili likes to say MARS where Miracles Are Regularly Succeeded!
Leo and I, along with others who attend the Mixed Ability RowerS (MARS) which is run by an amazing lady, Sally, at Ross Rowing Club will be taking part in The Big Row 2024, which is an event put on by the Love Rowing Charity who are doing incredible work helping to make rowing more accessible for everyone! The group is made up of people with visible and invisible disabilities, both and, indeed none - the latter volunteer to help as support rowers! Some of the group compete and even go to a Regatta in Turin.
The group is something that for me has opened up the world in so many different ways; the beauty and serenity of the water and the wildlife; learning a new skill; feeling the water beneath you; benefiting from the camaraderie and immense support and tireless work of the team; finding a safe and utterly freeing way to exercise the body and making some absolutely fantastic new friends! It also allows Leo and I to be able to share in a sport. I, honestly, have never met a more can-do, wonderful, problem solving group! They will not stop until they find a way! Anyway, the crux of all this is I am putting another plea out for your help for a donation/ sponsorship to help to keep the groups going, pay for adapted equipment and to expand it as much as possible. Leo and I will be doing different lengths of rowing, for obvious reasons, on a mix of indoor ergs and on the water. I shall be doing 5km (or more if I can) and Leo 15km.
