A few years ago, I completed the 13‑mile Trek for Alzheimer’s Society. This year, I’m pushing myself even further — 26 miles — and I’m doing it alongside my sister. Our lives were deeply touched by dementia through our maternal grandparents, and we’ve seen firsthand how devastating this illness can be for individuals and the families who love them.
For the past 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to working in nursing homes, supporting people living with dementia and walking alongside their families through some of their hardest moments. I’ve seen the courage, the confusion, the tenderness, and the heartbreak. I’ve also seen how vital it is for people to have the right support, understanding, and care.
That’s why I’m raising money for Alzheimer’s Society.
They are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They provide help for those living with dementia today, and hope for the future by campaigning for change and funding ground‑breaking research.
