Story
I am super excited to announce that my boyfriend and I will be taking on a 6 km lake swim (3 km each!) to raise vital funds for Thames Hospice, where I have the privilege of working.
As a palliative care nurse, this cause is very close to my heart. Every day at work, I have the honour of supporting patients, families, and friends through one of the most difficult and challenging times of their lives. I am very proud to be part of a team that brings dignity and compassion during those moments.
This swim is my way of giving back to the incredible hospice that makes this care possible. But the hospice has also given me far more than I could ever give in return. It has made me a better person, a better nurse, and has taught me how to find light even in the darkest times. I am privileged to walk alongside some of the most courageous people I have ever known — my patients.
That is why I am raising funds for this beautiful place of love and care, because it deserves every bit of support we can give. The work that happens here is truly special, and I want to help ensure it continues to touch lives the way it has touched mine.
Please consider donating, participating, and sharing, because every contribution, no matter how small, makes a big difference.
I also want to take a moment to say that none of this would have been possible without you, Monty. From the very beginning, when I doubted myself and whether I could complete such a long distance, your encouragement, your belief in me, and your constant support pushed me further than I ever thought possible. Thank you — I could not have done it without you.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my fundraising page. It means more than you know, and every bit of awareness and support helps the hospice continue its amazing work.
Marta ❤️
P.S. This year is even more special because my brother is coming all the way from Spain to do the swim with us!
