Good luck and thank you!!!
It’s official…I’m running London Marathon 2025!
If you don’t already know me…hello, my name is Marta and I’m running London Marathon 2025 as part of team PCUK!
In June 2021 right as I gave birth to my 2nd son my dad became unwell. It started off with some pain in his back and steadily progressed.
What followed was months of battling with GP’s for answers. A crucial period where early diagnosis could have made a difference. By November 2021 our lives were turned upside down and my dad received his Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis.
I had never even heard of pancreatic cancer!? A cancer diagnosis is always scary. But to be delivered such a blow…no chance of survival…a death sentence. It took its toll on us all.
What was supposed to be my maternity leave with my son, turned into me driving to endless hospital trips, sitting in appointments where we were delivered blow after blow and caring for my dad who was putting on a brave face but clearly the disease was taking its toll.
We spent the next year trying to make as many memories as possible until 6th December 2022 where he died.
My dad was the strongest person I knew, he raised me and my brother alone, faced many hardships, was ambitious, charismatic and funny. I joked to him that I was going to run London Marathon one day, he laughed because I often had these crazy ideas. But he told me I could do anything I put my mind to.
The night before he died he told me and my brother that we are his legacy. So that’s why I’m running, to uphold his legacy.
26.2 miles are a lot…but having witnessed what he endured for 13 months I keep telling myself…if he can power through then so can I.
I’m not a natural or experienced runner by any means, but I’m going to give it a good go.
Pancreatic Cancer U.K. are the official charity partner of London Marathon in 2025 so it feels like fate that I’m privileged enough to be on their team and raise money for a cancer that doesn’t get enough support.
Early Diagnosis is key…pancreatic cancer is one of THE MOST deadly cancers yet you rarely hear about it!? Your donations could help save lives and fund vital research.
ALL funds raised will go directly to them. So please if you can donate I’d be incredibly grateful, do follow along on my journey. I’ll be doing all sorts of crazy things to hit my target including raffles, sponsored miles and running St Neots Half Marathon in a matter of weeks!
Follow me on Strava and you can see how I’m progressing too!
Thank you for the support!
Marta 💜
