Martin's fundraiser for SAFI Craft Workshop

Martin Barnett is raising money for Neema Crafts Workshop
In memory of Robyn Barnett

Expanding craft micro-businesses · 25 September 2026

We exist to give hope to as many people with disabilities as we are enabled to reach, to train them in meaningful skills that will sustain them in future employment. We currently support Neema Crafts Workshop in Iringa, Tanzania and a new project, See Ability First Intenational in Arusha, Tanzania.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My late wife Robyn was born in Iringa, Tanzania and we planned to spend some time in East Africa when I retired from full-time work.

Robyn was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2020 and despite amazing treatment at The Royal Marsden Hospital, she passed away in 2023.

I am volunteering through Church Mission Society ( CMS ) and spending a few months at the See Ability First International ( SAFI ) centre near Arusha, Tanzania.

SAFI is empowering people with disabilities and helping them to start micro-businesses, expanding artisan opportunities and creating secure livelihoods.

Trainees learn woodwork, jewellery-making, tailoring, doll and accessory making, tee shirt printing with 8 more businesses to follow.

100% of the profits from the craft businesses go back to supporting people with disabilities with help towards education, mobility, access and livelihoods.
