Story
I've decided to take on the London to Brighton mountain bike challenge... mainly because I've now got a new leg that works and apparently that means I have no excuses any more!
Mountain biking has become an important hobby for me. Some people buy a sports car in midlife - I bolt on a new leg and enter endurance events. Same thing, really.
This ride felt like the perfect way to test the upgrade! It's 61 miles of hills, mud, sweat and me pretending I'm far more professional than I actually am. If you see a one-legged man aggressively overtaking you uphill, just let it happen. I need this.
On a serious note, I'm riding for an amazing charity, the British Heart Foundation. Heart conditions have affected several members of our family and as you know, Dave died suddenly of a heart attack.
So yes, this is about proving the new leg works... But it's also about helping other hearts keep working too.
If you can, please sponsor me. Support a one-legged man pedalling to Brighton with determination, stubbornness, and possibly a packet of emergency doughnuts.
Every donation helps - and will definitely be thought about when I'm halfway up Ditchling Beacon questioning all of my life choices!
Thank you for your support. Let's raise some money and show that one good leg is all you really need!
