Story

Thank you for visiting our 2026 TCS London Marathon fundraising page. The London Marathon is an incredible event and Claire and I are honoured and privileged to be running it for the National Autistic Society, the UK's largest autism charity supporting 700,000 people and their families across the country.

The National Autistic Society is a charity that is very close to our hearts. Our son Tommy was diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) level 2 at aged 11. Throughout primary school, Tommy really struggled with hyper sensitivity, sensory issues and extreme social anxiety, which were all causing him a huge amount of trauma and distress. He and we knew he was neurodiverse and hence a bit different, but we needed insight into why.

It wasn't until Tommy was formally diagnosed with ASD that things started to turn a corner for him. The formal ASD diagnosis ensured that Tommy got access to and received the support he needed, but most importantly it gave him some answers and understanding into why he was a bit different, which has really helped him.

Claire and I want other children and their parents to have access to the support we received and hence we wanted to raise money for the National Autistic Society to enable this. It's 20 years this year since Claire and I ran the London Marathon together, so we wanted to mark the 20th anniversary by putting ourselves through it again, albeit now being 20 years older 😀
