At Northern Ireland Hospice, we care for more than 4,000 babies, children and adults with life-limiting illnesses, both in Hospice and in the community. We look after every patient's nursing, medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs with support for their family continuing into bereavement.

Story

Martin’s Mourne Skyline challenge

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in aid of the Northern Ireland Hospice.

I am taking part in the Mourne Skyline on the 12th October 2024. This challenge entails covering a distance of 35km and 9000ft climbing over 9 peaks in the Mourne Mountains, the last one being Slieve Donard!

NI Hospice provides Specialist Palliative Care to improve the lives of babies, children and adults with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses providing comfort to both them and their families.

NI Hospice not only consists of the Children’s and Adult Hospices in Belfast but also fund several Community Teams across Northern Ireland including one in Downpatrick which covers the local area including my own village of Dundrum in Co.Down. These Community teams support approximately 3,500 patients per year across Northern Ireland, who have various illnesses such as Cancer, Heart Failure, COPD and Dementia, managing symptoms and providing education and support to allow patients to remain in the comfort of their own home and Community.

Their mission is to improve the lives of children and adults with a palliative diagnosis, from diagnosis to the end of their life, delivering holistic and specialist palliative care and providing hope at a traumatic time.
