Story
As some of you know, I lost both parents to cancer. Their battle was made easier by the support they received from Macmillan. Normally any of the big challenges that I have done in the past has been in thier memory. However today 17th April 2025, we said farewell to a dear friend and colleague Phil Toy. I have had the pleasure and honour of work with Phil for the last three years. Phil was one of the most likeable characters you are ever likely to meet. Phil sadly lost his battle with cancer on 14th March 2025. A youngman of just 60 years of age he took the battle in the same way he approached life with a humble but positve attitude. His family, wife Rachel and his brothers and mother will all miss him dearly. As will I and the rest of our little work family in the JM Culham site. So I have decided to dedicate this ride especially to Phil. I hope he will approve of the ride as fan of walking in various mountains around the UK.
Therefore, I would like to give back to Macmillan as without others having done the same, they would have not had the support available to them. So, what is it this time I hear you ask. Yes, it is a cycling challenge. No, it is not a multiple day event. So, in one single day I shall be taking part in the 2025 Dragon Ride, the route is the Dragon Devil. So, what is that, just 185 miles (296km) with 14,543.96ft (4,433m) of climbing. Yes, in one day, estimate is about 12 hours of actual riding excluding any stops. So, I am doing that can you please dig deep and spare some pennies.
