A trek between the regular Battalions of the Rifles, covering around 650km over 17 days, Edinburgh on 5th June, Max's birthday, to Bulford on 21st June, the anniversary of Max's death. · 5 June 2024

We support The Rifles & its antecedent regiments, including via The Rifles Benevolent Trust, charity No: 1119071, which incorporates Care for Casualties & the Always a Rifleman Programme. Together the Trusts support all serving Riflemen & veterans, with the AARP meeting mental health needs.

Story

On 21st June 2022 our son, Max, an officer in 5 Rifles, was killed on Salisbury Plain. Since then we have remained connected to Max's comrades and Riflemen, which has been a great support to us. But we have found that there is only so much that the Regiment can do, and for bereaved service families the heartache of loss is compounded by having to navigate the inquests, Service Inquiries, HSE investigations and police reports. It is for this reason that we have become involved with the Rifles Regimental Trust, through which we hope to run a support programme for bereaved service families, providing both emotional and practical assistance which goes beyond normal Service channels. Supporting this trek with financial gifts will help us to help our service families at times of intense grief and pain.
