Running for Dorita: Supporting Age Concern Bracknell Forest

Martin Giai is raising money for Age Concern Bracknell Forest
In memory of Dorita

I will be running a 5Km charity fun run at Buckler's Park to raise money to supports older people across the borough with services, activities, designed to enhance wellbeing and independence. · 8 August 2026

We are focused on improving the lives of the local community. We offer a bespoke Day Centre setting providing essential respite for carers and a social setting for older people to come together and form their own community. We are passionate about reducing isolation and loneliness in older people.

Story

Dorita is 99 years old and lives in a home care. Before I moved to the UK, I spent a lot of time with her, sharing my small bakery business and many special moments in her home.

Sadly, I can no longer visit her as often as I would like, and I can see the effects of age advancing more and more each day. She now suffers from memory loss and often repeats the same stories and questions.

Although I am far away from her, she is always close to my heart.

For this reason, I have decided to take part in this fundraising event to support Age Concern Bracknell Forest and the incredible work they do for older people in our community.

I just hope that my knees, which have been through multiple surgeries over the years, will carry me through the challenge!

Thank you all for your kindness, generosity, and support. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.
