Story
Hi All,
I never quite got why people ran marathons or did ridiculous events for charity until I spent a year in and out of the LGI's Clarendon wing children's cancer and blood ward (they use more complex medical terminology but I will keep it simple). I'm still haunted by some of the children I saw on that ward.
So this year I'd like to support the Leeds Children's transplant team once again by doing the Dales Way walk with most of the lads that I used to go to Ibiza with back in the 90s, what could possibly go wrong? The walk is over 80 miles in length and spread across 5 days. The team includes Matt Connell, Neil Allison, John Atkinson, Dan Thompson, Russel Harland and me.
My son, Jack was diagnosed with a rare and serious condition called aplastic anaemia back in August 2022 and received a bone marrow transplant from a kind German lady in November 2022.
The Leeds Children's Transplant team was crucial in saving Jack's life. We can’t thank them enough for their expertise, dedication, and unwavering support during this journey.
Healthwise, Jack now seems to be doing well.
We’re asking for donations to support the Leeds Children's Transplant team's attendance at this year's British Transplant Games at the beginning of August.
Thanks in advance for your support.
