Story

We recently became members of The Yard in Edinburgh, and it has already had a huge impact on our family. Our 3 year old daughter, Alayah, is currently undergoing assessments for Autism and ADHD. Like many families starting this journey, we didn’t quite know what to expect.

From our very first visit, we were completely blown away by the facilities and, more importantly, by what The Yard offers to children who truly need a safe, inclusive space where they can simply be themselves. It’s a place with no limits, where children are free to explore, play, and let their imaginations run wild. One of the biggest positives for us was that siblings are also welcomed to join in, which made the experience even more special for our whole family.

I’ll be honest, going into that first session I was extremely anxious about how it would go. But after spending time there, I left feeling far more comfortable and hopeful about what the future holds for us as a family. In such a short space of time, The Yard has already brought us reassurance and comfort during what is a very new chapter of our lives.

The staff are incredibly friendly, supportive, and caring, providing vital support to the children throughout each session. It’s clear how passionate they are about what they do, and the difference they make is truly life changing.

Places like The Yard must receive the recognition and support they deserve. Fundraising is essential to allow them to continue offering these invaluable services and to keep these safe spaces open for families like ours. When I saw that The Yard was hosting an event in Glasgow, I knew straight away that I wanted to get involved and do my part to give back.

For anyone who is able to donate, thank you so much. Your support is genuinely appreciated and makes a real difference. And for those who aren’t able to donate, please consider sharing this instead. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for supporting such an incredible cause.
