Running a marathon is an enormous personal achievement. Our London Marathon charity runners not only complete one of the most famous races in the world, but also raise vital funds to support some of the UK's most vulnerable children and young people.

Story

I've always enjoyed running for both fitness and mental health, but it has become even more meaningful now that my children have grown up and flown the nest, giving me the time to train properly and really enjoy the journey.

This year 2026 and at 45, I've already taken on a half marathon trail race and my first full marathon - the Windermere Marathon, which was certainly a tough one to start with. This year is another big one for me: on 13 September 2026, I'm running the Great North Run Half Marathon in aid of MND, in memory of my dad, who sadly passed away from this cruel disease over 15 years ago. Two weeks later, I'll be tackling the Preston Citys Half Marathon, and I'll finish off the year with the Bolsover 10K in December.

Then comes a dream I've had for at least 20 years - the London Marathon 2027 on Saturday, 24 April 2027. I'm incredibly lucky to have a charity place with Brathay Trust, a local charity close to where I live. Being able to fundraise for a charity where you can see the difference it makes first hand feels like a real privilege.

Brathay Trust's work is powered by fundraising support and the commitment of people who believe in the power of coming together to make a positive difference. By supporting this challenge, you'll be helping transform the lives of young people and strengthening the amazing "Brathay effect" that sits at the heart of everything they do.

I'm aiming to raise £2,500 for Brathay Trust, and I'd be so grateful for any support you can give. Whether that's a donation or sharing my page, every bit of encouragement helps me keep going and helps Brathay continue its life-changing work.
