Martin's fundraiser for Tuberous Sclerosis Association

London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
My daughter Amy Ready was born with a rare genetic condition called Tuberous Sclerosis which affects around 1 million people worldwide and up to 11,000 in the UK.
Amy was first diagnosed when she was 9 months old after being admitted to hospital with seizures. Her TSC diagnosis soon followed after a brain scan revealed multiple growths in her brain which have triggered seizures every day since. Further scans revealed growths in her eyes, kidneys and skin, including her face as TSC causes growths to develop in different organs around the body as a result of the condition.
Common problems from TSC can include epilepsy, autism, learning difficulties and kidney problems. However, the way that TSC impacts on a person’s life can vary considerably. https://tuberous-sclerosis.org/
Amy is now 20 and life has been a battle for her on many fronts due to her learning disability, autism and daily seizures, but the biggest battle has been for her to be 'accepted and included' as she has a limited network of friends. This is one of the challenges faced by those with hidden disabilities.
I am therefore taking part and running the 2024 London Marathon, after previously running the 2023 Great North Run and Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon for Amy and the Tuberous Sclerosis Association to raise awareness and some valuable funds for a small but vital charity and your support is very much welcomed and appreciated.
My target is to raise £2000 and very I'm mindful that everyone is feeling the financial pinch currently, so even the smallest donation can help to make a difference.
By supporting me with a vital donation you can be a part of the TSA’s life-changing work.
