Story
Hi! This is Martina, a neuroscientist and athlete from Italy.
🧠 👩💻 By day, I work in the field of brain health technologies.
🏃♀️🏔 In my free time, I train hard to beat my 10k personal best - maybe that's playing tricks with time, but I am determined to get faster as I age!
Dementia is a devastating disease. It scares me to watch loved ones close to me plagued by it - both people living with the disease, and their caregivers. I hope that by the time I grow old, I won’t have to fear it for myself, my family and my friends: not only because I’ll have done my part with prevention (where physical and social activity play a crucial part!) but because we will have found a cure.
🔬 I believe that only collaboration, collegiality, and the intersection of scientific research, industrial effort and civil society can achieve this huge goal: I want to be part of this fight.
As an advocate of physical exercise and social connection as preventive medicine, the Cambridge Half Marathon is an excellent occasion for me to contribute to the cause. I will be raising funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK - an important organization, with the right tools to drive progress.
I warmly invite you to join me in this journey #ForACure - every penny you give will be dedicated to making the biggest possible impact.
