Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. Asking people for money is one of my least favourite pastimes alongside long distance running but I'm hoping you can help me reach my fundraising target for a great cause.
Prostate Cancer Research are dedicated to creating brand new prostate cancer treatments. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with over 50,000 new cases diagnosed each year. It is also the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men in the UK. Around 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime meaning it's likely to affect someone close to you.
At 38, and possibly riding the crest of what some might call a midlife crisis, what better catalyst for signing up to run the London Marathon.
On a personal level I'm hoping to raise awareness and support discussion between family, friends and work colleagues. In the early stages of fundraising, it's been interesting to see just how many people are willing to help and are supportive of the cause because of their own personal experiences.
People affected by prostate cancer need breakthrough treatments, and research is the only way to turn this hope into reality.
