GCHC Easter Egg Run 2026 · 5 April 2026 ·

We help the babies, children and young people treated at Scotland's largest children's hospital, the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. We fund medical equipment, research, play programmes and family support services to ensure that our young patients receive the best possible care and experience.

UPDATE 1530 - 01/04/26

The Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity sadly had to make the tough but was the right decision to cancel this year’s Easter Egg Run due to a couple of last minute unforeseen circumstances which could have potentially increased risk to the comfort and safety to all those involved.

The Easter Egg Run is one of the charity’s biggest fundraising events, so this cancellation will inevitably have an impact. As previously mentioned I’ve taken part for many years and since the weekend, many of you have already made incredibly generous donations which for that I’m hugely grateful.

Because of that support, I still feel it’s important to do something.

So instead of riding the route this Sunday, I’ll still be taking part by walking from Glasgow Green to the Hospital , dressed up, with a few extra layers added for good measure.

(I suspect it may also be the more economical option given fuel prices…)

I also made a slightly reckless extra pledge at the weekend, assuming I was very unlikely to hit it.

But I’m now equally delighted and mildly terrified to say I’m not far off the £2,000 mark , at which point I have promised the beard I’ve had for around 20 years comes off.

If you’re able to donate anything at all, it would be hugely appreciated and will help soften the blow to a fantastic charity after the event’s cancellation.

Thank you again for all the support so far it really does mean a lot.

ORIGINAL POST

Many of you will know that every Easter I usually take part in the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity Easter Egg Run.

It’s a brilliant event when bikers dress up, ride together and raise money for an incredible cause. For family reasons, this charity is very close to my heart and that’s why I keep coming back year after year.

I genuinely didn’t think I was going to be able to take part this year… but a last-minute change of circumstances means I’m in.

The catch? I’ve got just 8 days to raise as much money as I possibly can.

2026 will be my 12th year doing this. With your help, I raised £2,462 last year. Given the timescales, I’d be delighted to hit £1,000 but I’m quietly hoping we can do something special and push beyond that.

I’ve even had to remortgage the house to pay for the petrol this year… (slight exaggeration, but only just).

So this brings me on to my beard....

Many of you have recently commented on the fact that I’ve still got the beard I’ve had for the past 18 years.

So here’s the deal: If we hit £2,000, the beard comes off. Completely.

I know times are tight for everyone just now, but even a couple of pounds makes a real difference and if you can share this as well, that helps just as much.

Please donate if you can, and help me smash this in the next 8 days:

Thank you genuinely. Every pound goes to supporting children and families when they need it most.
