Story
On Saturday 5th April, 2025. I will be running GB Ultras Chester 100 mile ultra marathon to raise money for Mind who are a mental health charity.
On Saturday 12th July, 2025. I will be taking part in the Sting Backyard Ultra. This is a last person standing race. The format is a 4.167 mile course with an hour to complete each lap. If the lap is completed under an hour any excess time can be used to rest and refuel. There is not a maximum lap cut off it keeps going until only one remains.
on Saturday 6th September, 2025. I will be running GB Ultras Yr Wyddfa Snowdon 100 mile ultra marathon. I completed the 50 mile course in 2024 and it was brutal. It was the hardest event I’ve ever done and I told myself I’d never come back. A couple of months later I submitted an application for the 100 mile route and I was accepted 🫣
In preparation for these races I will also be completing the following:
8th September 2024 - The Great North Run ✅ 1 hour 33 minutes 26 seconds
14th September 2024 - Snowdon 50 Mile Ultra Marathon ✅ - That hurt a lot.
19th October 2024 - Moon Runner 10K Trail Series - Chopwell Forest ✅ - 11th/145 runners (humbling experience)
I have chosen to raise money for Mind because statistically speaking the most likely cause of my own death in the next 30 years would be by taking my own life.

In 2022-2023 Mind responded to 130,973 helpline calls. That is 359 calls per day and 14 calls per hour. It costs £100 a day for one advisor to support those in need and every call answered has the potential to save a life.
Whilst I haven’t struggled with mental health issues in the past, I understand I am not bulletproof. It is easy to take our wellbeing for granted until challenges arise. We may feel strong and capable now, but the reality is any of us could need Minds support in the future.
