On 2 February 2026 , Alice Greaves a close family friend lost her battle with cancer at just 27 years old.

Alice was the most incredible young lady, kind, caring, and absolutely hysterical—her sense of humour could light up any room. She had the most beautiful smile and an unwaveringly positive outlook on life, inspiring everyone around her even in the toughest of times.

Alice was not only an incredible friend, sister, daughter, cousin, niece , but also a passionate ambassador for several cancer charities. Through her dedication to Hope Against Cancer and Nottingham breast cancer charities, she helped raise over £400,000—an extraordinary achievement that continues to impact so many lives.

To continue her incredible legacy, Terry and I will be taking part in the ‘If Alice can, anyone can’ charity bike ride. On 29th August 2026, we will be cycling 125 miles from old Dalby Leicestershire to Sheringham in Norfolk in one day to raise money for Hope Against Cancer, helping to fund vital research and support those affected by cancer.

This will be one of the biggest challenges we’ve taken on, both physically and emotionally.

I (Mary) promised Alice that I would join this years cycle ride and I have to do it . A promise is a promise after all. It won’t be easy, I’ve never ridden this distance and not sure if my legs will hold out but it’s nothing compared to what Alice went through. Every mile will be for her and the promise I made to her .

I’m hoping this gives me some purpose, and maybe a little comfort, as I—and so many others—try to navigate life without her infectious zest for life.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help carry forward the hope, strength, and determination that Alice showed every single day.
