Story
Four years ago, we started a new tradition. What started as a gathering with my sister’s family for Thanksgiving has grown into something we all look forward to with genuine excitement—our time at Kanuga.
There’s something special about being on that mountain that’s hard to put into words. Maybe it’s the slower pace, or the way the days seem to stretch just enough to make room for what really matters. Our time is filled with simple, cozy moments: working on puzzles together, sharing meals, laughing over old stories, and creating new ones. It’s not about grand plans or packed schedules; it’s about being present with each other.
In a world that often feels rushed and distracted, this time has become a chance to reconnect not just with each other, but with the traditions and values we want to carry forward. Kanuga has given our family a shared place, one that feels steady and welcoming, where memories seem to settle in and stay.
What’s made it even more meaningful is seeing how quickly it has become something we all treasure. It’s no longer just a trip to visit cousins - it’s a tradition, one that binds us together and gives us something to return to year after year.
We hope that this is just the beginning. Our greatest wish is that the next generation of our family will come to experience Kanuga in their own way: building their own traditions, making their own memories, and feeling that same sense of belonging that we’ve come to love so much.
Supporting Kanuga means helping preserve a place where families like ours can continue to gather, slow down, and simply be together. And for us, that’s something truly worth holding onto.
