Love your enemy for Step

We work in local secondary schools to share the Christian faith in a lively, relevant and consistent manner. Through a core staff team and volunteers from local churches, we teach engaging RE lessons, run lunchtime groups, deliver whole day activities, run courses and organise social action projects

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I (Mary) am a massive Liverpool fan and naturally I take great delight in us winning. The team I most like to see lose is Manchester United - with some family rivalry at play! I love the friendly banter I have with my Man United supporting friends and family but I'm not a fan of how this banter can sometimes turn into hatred in the footballing world. In a world where difference and tribalism can separate us, the Love Your Enemy for Step campaign is about recognising Jesus' teaching of loving your enemy and appreciating the value in each of us, whoever we support.

This fundraised is for Step, a charity I work for, so we can carry on resourcing the team well long-term. For this, I am willing to wear a Manchester United shirt for a day, sometime in September (date TBC). We are also doing lots of work in schools about the topic of loving your enemy and not just from a footballing perspective.

I would appreciate any sponsorship but I am also encouraging others to join this team and wear their rival's kit for a day so if you would like to create your own fundraising page you can do so by clicking on the following link.

Maybe you don't have a rival or even like football. If that's the case you can always do something similar to my colleague Helena who hates football but is willing to don a shirt chosen by her sponsors (see her page in the team members below). Or you could sponsor those who will undertake this difficult challenge.

Thank you so much for any support you give to me or any of the team members- it all will go to the same campaign and ensure Step can continue the great work it does in schools.
