Mary and Roy's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society

Mary Wood is raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Walking with my husband in a wheelchair round Fairhaven Lake in fancy dress · 25 September 2026

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

ON 25TH SEPTEMBER 2026 ROY AND I ARE WALKING AROUND FAIRHAVEN LAKE - ROY IN HIS WHEELCHAIR. WE ARE RAISING MONEY FOR THE ALZHEIMER'S SOCIETY:

The Alzheimer’s Society are working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.

Roy and I want to contribute to this cause and we also want to thank Jenny and Tony and all of the team at The Dementia Cafe, held at The Reform Church, Preston Old Road, Blackpool for bringing joy back into our lives.

When we were given Roy's diagnosis, it shattered our world, but then we found the Dementia Cafe and that changed. Suddenly we were filled with hope and a feeling that our lives hadn't come to an end. We receive so much help and encouragement from so many.

Our Motto is:

HOPE NOT FEARS - LAUGHTER, NOT TEARS. Thank you for your help.

All our love, Mary and Roy x
