Story
We did it!
On Saturday 12th July the Masons Rural team completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in just under 12 hours!

Rising with the sun, they set off around 5am and walked anticlockwise starting with Ingleborough (723 metres), then on to Pen-Y-Ghent (694 metres) with Simon, Russell, Lauren, Abi and Henry summiting Whernside (736 metres) just before 5pm.

All six of the team achieved the first 2 peaks before the heat defeated Sarah who joined Lauren’s husband, Lincolnshire farmer Ben Chamberlin, as crew support, at the second strategic meeting point in the minibus.

The rest of the Masons team trekked on up Whernside in blistering heat having replenished water supplies and snacks, keeping them hydrated in such punishingly hot conditions, making their achievement all the greater.

Big thanks to our guide Heather from Richard Fish Outdoor Adventures for our training walk, route planning, to Steve Orchard, host of the Farming Show we sponsor on LincsSound for the shout out on Friday night, and to the exceptionally hospitable Marton Arms for looking after us all so well.

What started as a 10 mile training hike in the Wolds mid-May grew into a bigger challenge than we ever imagined taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks in a July heatwave, but we did it and with the kindness, encouragement and support of our families, friends and clients we hope to beat our target and raise funds for one of our region’s most valuable charities, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

Thank you so much to all of you who have given so generously. We are beyond grateful for helping us to mark our 175th Year Anniversary in such a meaningful way.
If you have yet to do so there’s still time to support the lifesaving work the charity undertakes for the rural community that makes up our colleagues, clients, family and friends.
