Story
I came across Refugee Support while researching other refugee centers, and it quickly caught my attention. Their story and work strongly align with what I believe NGOs should strive for: impactful, transparent, and community-focused action. I was also impressed by how organized they are—not only in their sharing of information but in the structure of their work and volunteer processes. Shortly after submitting my application, I was contacted by a volunteer who conducted the initial screening. Within a day, we had a wonderful hour-long conversation. I found it thoughtful that Refugee Support involves volunteers not only on-site at their centers but also remotely for tasks like these. From there, I was accepted as a volunteer, and I’ve been in ongoing conversations to finalize the details of my time with them in Cyprus. I’ll be spending two weeks there from January 3 to January 17, and I’m very much looking forward to the experience.
Believing in this organization and its mission, I wanted to contribute even more than just my two weeks of volunteering. That’s why I’ve decided to start this fundraiser to further support their work. Since this also happens to align with my birthday month, I thought it would be a meaningful way to celebrate. I’ve set a relatively high goal, but if everyone I’m connected with donates just $20, we can reach it together. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference and directly support Refugee Support’s important work. Thank you for helping me make this vision a reality!
