New School Building

I will be traveling out to Uganda very soon to help construct a nursery school in Koc Lii, a rural community south of Gulu, Northern Uganda. This vibrant community, home to around 300 households, currently lacks nearby nursery provision. The closest primary school is over 10km away, leaving children unable to access foundational education until they are old enough to walk long distances. This delay hinders their critical developmental milestones.

Our project aims to establish a nursery school that will be supported by essential infrastructure including water, sanitation, a kitchen, and recreational facilities. Phase one of the project began with land generously provided by the local church, anchoring our vision of a nursery school in the commitment of the community. Building on this foundation, For Another Human has worked tirelessly to deliver a borehole that now provides tap-to-mouth safe water for both the school site and surrounding households. Access to safe water is non-negotiable for any educational institution.

The nearest well is over 4 km away and provides unsafe water; yet it remains the only source for surrounding communities who spend up to 3 hours each day collecting water. During the rainy season, this journey becomes exhausting and perilous — as one local friend described it, "it is common to slip and fall in the thick mud along the way." By installing a clean water supply at the school, we ensure that even the most basic health needs are met.

With this critical first step complete, we are now ready to advance to the next phases of construction that will deliver lasting educational opportunities for Koc Lii’s youngest learners. Every brick laid and every lesson taught will represent both hope and collaboration. With your support, we can transform Koc Lii from “classes under the mango tree” into a vibrant center of learning and opportunity as we build this much-needed school.
