Skydive Day September 2024 · 21 September 2024 to 22 September 2024 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

I lost my mum and grandmother to Alzheimers and my father to Lewy body dementia. You lose them twice with dementia - first as it strips away their relationship with reality and casts them adrift and then again when it's run its relentless course and they pass away. I can't describe what it feels like when your mum points at a photo of your dad with whom she shared 49 years of happy marriage and says 'Who is that man?' or shows you her engagement and wedding rings on her finger and asks 'Am I married?'

More and more people are being touched by this insidious disease, often having to care for infirm parents whilst bringing up a young family at the same time.

No-one should have to go through this. That's why I'm going to jump out of a plane at 10000 feet to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society to fund the search for a cure and help those living with dementia.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for any support you can give. I will cover the cost of doing the skydive so everything you donate will go to the Alzheimer's Society.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

At the Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
