Matilda Coleman is raising money for St Martin's School (Epsom) PTFA

Team: Junior Trailblazers 2026

25k hike · 20 June 2026

The PTFA is a vibrant, happy community which comes together to raise money for the little, and big, extras provided at school. We've funded music and theatre activities; aircon units; diversity artwork; classroom and library supplies; outdoor play equipment; and hope to continue with your support.

Story

What are we doing?

On Saturday 20 June 2026 a group of Year 6 children at St Martin’s CofE Junior School in Epsom will be hiking 25km from Leith Hill back to Epsom! Before the event, led by a group of parents, the children will participate in 5 training walks over a 2 month period, gradually building up in distance. We hope that participating in 'Trailblazers' will be a great experience for the children; not only providing them with a unique physical challenge, but an opportunity to learn more about the essential work charities perform and to give back to their school and community.

Which charities are we supporting and what will the funds raised be used for?

This is a sponsored event in aid of two local charities, Home-Start Epsom, Ewell and Banstead and St Martin’s School PTFA. The sponsorship funds collected through Just Giving will be split equally between the charities. Payments of sponsorship monies will be made from Just Giving to the St Martin's PTFA account only. Following closure of the campaign, St Martin's PTFA will transfer 50% of the funds to Home-Start Epsom, Ewell and Banstead, minus any expenses incurred in connection with the event. The funds generated for St Martin's PTFA will be used for Year 6 'Leavers' resources and activities. In the event that we raise PTFA funds exceeding these costs, any remaining funds will be used for the benefit of the whole school.

Home-Start Epsom, Ewell and Banstead supports local families with children aged 0–11 through emotional and practical early help. They reduce isolation, strengthen mental health, and help parents build confidence and resilience, creating a stronger foundation for children entering school and beyond.Your support for this event can make a significant difference in the lives of local families, providing them with resources and opportunities to help them thrive.
