Story
This April, we’ll be taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon and the TCS Marathon to raise funds for Fight for Sight, a charity doing incredible work to prevent sight loss and fund life-changing research into eye conditions.
Last year, Amy ran the London Marathon for Fight for Sight and raised over £7,000 to support their vital research. After that experience, she knew she had to do it again. This year, Amy will run the London Landmarks Half Marathon her husband Matt, who lives with Choroideremia, and their friend Stu. Matt, Amy and Cameron, a great friend and keen runner, will then take on the London Marathon.
Choroideremia is a rare inherited eye condition that causes progressive vision loss. It affects the retina and gradually takes away peripheral vision until only a small tunnel of sight remains. Matt has already lost around 95% of his field of vision, which means he can only see a small fraction of what most people take for granted. He’s the first to admit he thinks this whole marathon idea is slightly ridiculous, but it's a challenge he's going to relish, enjoy the training for, and an achievement and memory that he can look back on with pride.

We’re aiming to raise £6,000 for Fight for Sight. The charity funds pioneering research that gives real hope that conditions like Choroideremia can one day be stopped or even reversed. No one should have to live with the fear of losing their sight or make life-changing decisions because of it. That’s why this cause means so much to us.
Every donation really does make a difference. Your support will keep us going through the months of training ahead and the 26.2 miles on marathon day, and it will help fund research that could change lives for generations to come.
Thank you for supporting us, for believing in what we’re running for, and for helping us get one step closer to a future where no one has to lose their sight ❤️
