Story
My story:
On 19 March 2025, my dad passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was under the daily care of the Sue Ryder nurses from the South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub for over 5 months. Over this period, it was difficult to know whether he had days, weeks or months left, and he was often in a lot of pain. This took its toll on the family and in particular my mum. My mum could not have coped without the Sue Ryder team and they made my dad’s last days as peaceful as possible.
As a keen runner, I already had an entry to the 2025 London Marathon. The very least I could do is to dedicate the run to my father, Angus, and to raise what money I can for the Sue Ryder South Oxfordshire Palliative Care Hub, whom he spoke so highly of.
Background:
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether thats a terminal illness or the loss of a loved one, they're there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live
