Story
Myself and a few others are embarking on a 100km continuous walk, starting on 11th January 2025. We are walking in aid of Cranstoun's MPACT programme.
At Cranstoun we work with compassion and ambition on behalf of people who are suffering harm from social issues including substance use & addiction, domestic abuse and homelessness. They are needed now more than ever, with UK deaths from overdose at record levels, violence against women and girls representing a fifth of all recorded crime and nearly 300,000 people experiencing homelessness (nearly half of whom are children)
MPACT- Moving Parent and Children Together, is best described as an evidence-based group psychosocial intervention which takes the whole family in a safe, structured setting – with 8 core sessions, for both adult, young person and child family members to come together and explore addiction with other families and an experienced facilitator. Some of the activities involve all the families as a whole and as part of the sessions, adults, young people and children break off into groups. Parts of the sessions allow attenders to discuss/ express their experiences and encourage communication, expression and move towards recovery of the family.
MPACT sessions are wholly dependent on donations for sessions to take place.
