Story
I am a British Heart Foundation funded researcher working within a team of scientists at the University of Edinburgh's Centre for Cardiovascular Science to discover new medicines in the fight against cardiovascular diseases. Our lab looks for how our genes control changes in blood vessels or hearts during disease. Outside of the lab, many of us are keen runners (or will be soon!) and so we're also banding together to run in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival and raise money to help the BHF.
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
