Story
🏃 Running for Edith — and for every child living with Rett Syndrome 💜
This year, I’m running the New Forest Marathon for a cause that is closer to my heart than I could ever put into words. My beautiful daughter Edith has Rett Syndrome — a rare, devastating neurological disorder that has stolen so much from her.
Rett Syndrome mostly affects girls and is caused by a single genetic mutation. For Edith, it means she can’t speak, can’t walk, has lost the ability to use her hands and faces daily challenges most of us can barely imagine. Yet, every single day, she shows a courage and resilience that inspires me beyond measure.
✨ Edith’s story
Edith is cheeky, bright, and full of life. She has a smile that can light up the darkest room, a laugh that’s completely contagious, and a way of looking at you that melts your heart. She loves music, being outdoors, and having cuddles — and even though she can’t tell us with words, we feel her joy in every little expression. She faces each day with a determination that humbles me, and she teaches me more about strength than any marathon ever could.
💜 Why Reverse Rett matters
Reverse Rett is working tirelessly to change the future for children like Edith. They fund research into treatments and, one day, a cure. Their work gives us something priceless: hope. Hope that one day Edith might regain some of what Rett has taken from her. Hope that other families won’t have to go through the same heartbreak.
Running 26.2 miles is going to be hard — but nothing compared to what Edith faces every day. Every step I take will be for her, and for the thousands of girls and women around the world living with Rett Syndrome.
If you can, please sponsor me and support Reverse Rett. Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to breakthroughs that could change lives forever.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you.
