The Paul Alan Project raises awareness of the signs of cardiac arrest; providing basic lifesaving and defibrillator training to the public and organisations for free. We also raise funds for the provision and installation of Public Access Defibrillators and Bleed Control Kits for community use.

Story

As a trustee of The Paul Alan Project, I am running The Reading Half Marathon to raise money and awareness of our charity which was set up to prevent more cardiac arrest deaths in the UK; by raising awareness of the signs of a cardiac arrest, providing basic life support training for FREE and raising funds for the provision and installation of public access defibrillators.

Since April 2023, we have trained for CPR and defibrillator confidence to over 1400 people. We fundraise for the provision of accessible defibrillators and bleed control kits and we currently have 30 defibrillators registered on The Circuit.

The charity was set up by by my friend Clare in memory of her Dad, Paul Parish. Paul's cardiac arrest happened during a football match at Craven Cottage between Fulham FC and Blackpool FC just seconds after celebrating Aleksandar Mitrovic's 28th goal of the 2021/22 football season. It was the last thing that made Paul smile during a lifetime of happiness and raucous laughter!

I'm incredibly proud of everything Clare has achieved with this charity in such a short space of time, and its an honor to be running to raise money for something that means so much to me, to all of our friends and to every local community.
