Story
In 2018, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. What followed was brain surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy after the tumour returned in 2019, and years of challenges that affected every part of my life.
Throughout that journey, Macmillan Cancer Support were there for me. They supported me through appointments, treatment, recovery and the uncertainty that comes with living with a serious brain tumour.
Their support went far beyond my medical treatment. When I lost my job working in a homeless hostel, a role I genuinely loved, Macmillan helped me access financial support and practical assistance when I needed it most. They even provided vouchers that allowed me to do something for myself during a difficult period, helping me look after my mental wellbeing when things felt particularly tough.
The support I received made a real difference to my life, and it’s something I have never forgotten.
Now I’m taking on the Everest Base Camp Trek (Beyond Adversity) to give something back to the charity that helped me through some of the most difficult years of my life.
By supporting this fundraiser, you’ll be helping Macmillan continue to provide practical, emotional and financial support to people and families facing serious health challenges.
Thank you for supporting my journey and helping me give back to a charity that gave so much to me.
