Story
I'm taking on The 19 Challenge in support of PTSD UK.
Recently I have realised how this affects people, putting a name to the feelings has supported my understanding and helped me begin to come to terms with it.
- So, Here's why the number 19 matters.
Fewer than 19% of people showing signs of PTSD and C-PTSD in the UK have ever been diagnosed by a professional. That means more than 8 in 10 people living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or C-PTSD symptoms right now don't have a name for what they're experiencing. They don't know that treatment exists. Many don't know that support is available.
So I'm doing 19 press-ups a day for 19 days to help change that. (13th - 31st July).
Every time someone asks "why 19?", that's a conversation about PTSD and C-PTSD that might not have happened otherwise. And every pound raised goes directly to PTSD UK - the UK's only charity dedicated solely to raising awareness of PTSD and C-PTSD and helping people access the support they need.
If this cause means something to you too, please consider donating - even a small amount makes a real difference. And if you want to join in, I nominate you. 19 press-ups. 19 days. Your way.
Please don't feel the need to donate if you cannot though, this is more about raising awareness, I am happy to make the difference up at the end of the 19 days :).
