Story
They say a good walk can clear your head. Well, we're hoping a 25-mile trek from the Manchester City ground, The Etihad to the home of Huddersfield Town, The Accu Stadium is enough to clear our heads for quite some time! After last year's brutal walk from Huddersfield to Bolton, you'd think we'd have learned our lesson, but here we are again, ready for more pain!
This year the Huddersfield Town event is Walk4Denis, which is in memory of Denis Law who famously played for the likes of Huddersfield Town, Manchester City and Manchester United. Unfortunately in 2021 Denis was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He and his family raised funds and awareness of this disease. Denis sadly died in January 2025.
Myself alongside my siblings, Sam and Summer are taking on this walking challenge on the 20th September 2025, to raise money for a cause that's incredibly close to the hearts of many of people around the UK, specifically the Alzheimer's Society.
Walking 25 miles is no joke. We've been training (mostly by walking to the fridge and back), and we're ready to brave the blisters, the bad weather, and each other's terrible jokes for an entire day starting at 4:30 in the morning, reaching the Accu Stadium in time for the game vs Burton Albion that day! Your donation, no matter how big or small, will be a massive motivator and will make a real difference to people living with dementia and their families.
Wish us luck (and send us some blister plasters)!
The Alzheimer’s Society is working toward a future where dementia no longer devastates lives. They support those living with dementia today while funding research and campaigning for change to create hope for tomorrow.
Dementia is the biggest health and social care challenge of our time. In the UK, around 900,000 people are currently living with dementia – many undiagnosed and facing it alone. But thanks to the efforts of the Alzheimer’s Society and its supporters, that’s changing.
With your help, the Alzheimer’s Society can:
- Provide vital support to those who need it most
- Campaign to hold decision-makers to account
- Fund groundbreaking research to transform the future
Together, we can be help, support and hope for everyone affected by dementia.
