Story
I’m running my first marathon at the 2026 London Marathon on April 26th in memory of my parents, fundraising for Macmillan Caring Locally.
We lost Mum in August 2025, six months after her cancer diagnosis. She was loved and will be missed by her children, grandchildren, brothers, wider family and her many friends.
During her final weeks, we were extremely grateful for the care and comfort provided by the Hospice at Home team from the Macmillan Unit, Christchurch Hospital.
The very same unit also looked after Dad during his final weeks back in 2014.
In memory of both Mum and Dad, I will be running the London Marathon on Sunday 26th April 2026, to raise money for Macmillan Caring Locally. This charity supports the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital, providing palliative care to patients across Dorset and Hampshire, helping families and providing dignity and care for people with terminal illness.
Running has kept me going through the difficulty of loss, and I’ve been training relentlessly through the winter and spring to give this marathon my best shot. You can follow my training updates below. I want the run to be as enjoyable as possible, to celebrate and honour their memory.
