#TEAMTANYALEEDS running the ROB BURROWS LEEDS MARATHON for MND
In April 2025 our beautiful friend, Tanya Stokoe, passed away after a short and devastating battle with ALS, a form of MND. Seeing her quickly lose her motor functions including her favourite tool, her voice, was impossible. To Tanya, her voice was her career and a huge part of her expressiveness, her laughter and her ability to raise everyone around her with her words… all this came from her ability to speak and to lose it was completely devastating for her. For anyone who knows anything about ALS or MND, it is a cruel disease which is currently incurable with limited treatment. But the truth is it does not have to be like this.
It is a vastly underfunded illness in term of available clinical support and research into a cure. Crucial research is gaining new ground via the work carried out by Answer ALS in the USA and the MND Association in the UK but there is so much more to be done.
As a Brit living in Atlanta Tanya loved her life and lived it to the fullest but, although she wasn’t able to campaign for awareness during her illness, we are determined to raise much needed funds in her name.
On 10 May 2026 #TeamTanyaLeeds will take on the Rob Burrows Leeds Marathon for the MND Association an incredible charity that supports those facing a diagnosis and funds vital research into treatments and, one day, a cure.
Our team consists of Lizzie, Richard (Lizzie's brother), Katherine (Lizzie's sister), Steve and me (Tanya’s Leeds University friends).
Thank you for your support - it really does mean so much.
Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure, your details are safe - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails. Thank you again
