MY TCS London Marathon 2025

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I’m running the London Marathon!
Yes….. I’m still in shock too 😬and a little scared!
I’ll be running for diabetes UK, a charity that’s close to the heart of our family. Below is why I’m running the marathon and please, if you can spare any ££, sponsor me to help show my son that I love him and I’ll always fight for him.
My son Jack was 13 when he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, starting out in secondary school with hormones and the rest that goes on with a developing young mind, this was thrown at him too. It’s fair to say it flipped our life as a family upside down and continues to be a challenge for him every day. Jack is having to make several conscious decisions around his diabetes throughout the day (and often night too) which continues to be overwhelming for Jack alongside his other challenges. Jack has an incredible team around him at Kettering hospital, his wonderful nurse Sam, is in contact with Jack continuously and has fought his corner non stop with education, diabetes tech and not to mention being his emotional cheerleader.
Whilst the support has been first class, Jack has struggled mentally leading to 2 suicide attempts which left him hospitalised, and ultimately resulted in an ADHD diagnosis, with both conditions working against each other.
When I married my wife Kerry (Jack's mum), Jack was my best man, my little cheeky chappy. Over the last few years our relationship has been difficult, I’ve really struggled to understand all the emotions that he has to deal with and continues to go through, but I am trying. I am running the marathon because it will be tough, I’ve never run a race outside of school and I started couch to 5k in March 2024 following my major surgery. This is my way to show him that when it’s tough I will fight for him, and I’ll never give up. He is my son and I love him and always will.
