Story
I have (foolishly) signed up to run in this year’s London Marathon on 23rd April. When I went to watch my brother take part a few years ago, I couldn’t believe how incredible the atmosphere was and it has to go down as one of my favourite sporting events I have been to. It inspired me to apply every year through the public ballot, and this year, I was successful. You may well have seen my various attempts at a number of sports and will know that I am not a natural athlete, and for me this is quite a big job!
I have been training since Christmas and have been (gradually) making progress, but now it is less than a month to go before the race, so in order to motivate myself to get through these last few weeks of training, and the race itself, I have decided to raise money for Exeter Food Action. They are a local charity which collect food from various supermarkets that would otherwise be going to waste, and distribute it to local community kitchens, campaigns and food banks to help people in need within the area. Having volunteered with them since July, while they rely mostly on generous donations of food from supermarkets and their customers, it has opened up an awareness for myself to the running costs charities like this have to consider. Therefore, they require continued funding in order for them to provide this incredible support to those in need.
Please Donate what you can, or if you’d prefer, next time you’re in your local supermarket drop an item or 2 into the customer-collection trolley; which many of them also have. Thank you all!
