30 bays in a day! · 7 July 2025

Les Bourgs Hospice provides complex respite & symptom management as well as end of life care & bereavement support. We have seen an increase in demand for our services due to a complexity of life limiting illnesses so every donation makes a significant difference to the care that we can offer.

Story

On July 7th, we plan to take on my own version of the 30 bays in 30 days for Les Bourgs Hospice…

30 bays in a day!

Matt will be running between every bay, and Ellie cycling/running (our estimate is around 46km!) swimming a minimum of 30 strokes in each bay.

From Ellie:

Over the last year I had the absolute pleasure of being involved in Sam’s care both in community and in the hospice itself! The Holland family are amazing and Sam left a huge stamp on everyone’s hearts, may she live on in the songs we hear and the legacy she left behind of being fiercely herself no matter the bumpy road life can be!

We’re hoping for good weather and plan on finishing at fermain bay steps, so feel free to come join us and celebrate the final dip of the day!! 🏊🏊🏊

From Matt:

Les Bourgs Hospice hold a place close to my heart due to the role they held in caring for my mum in the last few months of her battle with MND. They dramatically improved her quality of life and without them, we would not have had the time as a family we so very needed. It’s not just the facilities behind Les Bourgs, but the people. The Nurses, healthcare assistants and volunteers all bring happiness and comfort to people going through some of the toughest moments in their lives. Please do consider donating to this cause because all the help they provide is of no cost to the families and people they give respite and palliative care to.

This challenge feels somewhat fitting as my mum used to love swimming in the sea. I will be starting my challenge at the bathing pools and finishing at the steps in Fermain bay - a place that holds a lot of meaning to my mum and family.

I would love it if people would like to join me for any of the swims, so please do give me a message if you would like to join on any of the bays!
