Story

In October, with help from @protrekadventures, I will be trekking across the himilayas for 19 days reaching Everest base camp and attempting to become the youngest and possibly the first person from Cornwall to successfully summit island peak (6189m) and lobuche east (6119m) both being over 4 and a half times higher than the tallest mountain in the UK Ben Nevis (1345m).

While doing so, I will be raising money for @MacmillanCancerSupport, a charity that has helped my family and many others.

Back in 2014, my mum was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer and given just a 20% chance to live another 5 years. Being just 9 at the time I wasn’t aware of the severity of the disease other than knowing that cancer was a bad word. Watching my mum go through surgery and chemo without ever showing me her struggle, always coming home from school seeing a smile on her face rather than a grimace which at the time was the only important thing for me, this taught me what real strength looks like - a mentality I’ll be trying to replicate when my alarm goes off in the early hours of the morning to begin a summit push where every breath delivers only about 50% of the oxygen available at sea level. Now being clear from cancer for almost a decade, the same group that helped her she now volunteers for, helping others dealing with cancer at The Mustard Tree Macmillan Cancer Support Centre in Plymouth.

All donations and repost/shares are well appreciated
