Story

Running for Dementia UK – In Memory of My Dad

Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page.

In 2024, I ran my first London Marathon for Dementia UK, in support of my dad, who was living with Logopenic Variant Primary Progressive Aphasia, a rare and devastating form of dementia. Last year, in 2025, I ran again—pushed by the memory of my dad and the incredible support from family, friends, and my community at Felixstowe Lawn Tennis Club. Together, through both marathons, we have now raised over £10,000 for this incredible charity.

Sadly, my dad passed away in May 2024. While my first marathon was run to support him, and my second to honor him, this year I am running in his memory, and for everyone affected by this cruel illness. My goal is to honor their battles, raise awareness, and continue providing vital support to families through Dementia UK.

Running is deeply personal for me. My dad was a PE teacher for over 20 years, living such an active and inspiring life, and every mile I run is a tribute to his energy, his dedication, and his love. Dementia UK provides families with invaluable guidance and support during some of the most challenging times imaginable, and there is no charity I’d rather run for again.

In 2026, I’m aiming even higher—my goal is to help us reach a total of £15,000 raised across all three years. I would be deeply grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small. Every pound will directly support families living with dementia, helping them navigate the emotional, practical, and financial challenges of this illness.

This year, I’m going for a hat-trick of London Marathons for Dementia UK. After the incredible experiences (and challenges!) of 2024 and 2025, I’m determined to push myself further, knowing that every step I take supports families living with dementia.

I know so many of you were beyond generous over the last two years, and I’m not expecting anyone to do the same—but if you are able to support again, it would mean the world. Every donation, every share, and every word of encouragement makes a tangible difference. Together, we can make life a little easier for families facing dementia and honor the memory of loved ones like my dad.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, secure, and every penny goes directly to Dementia UK. Your support allows me to keep running, to keep raising awareness, and to keep making a difference.

Let’s make 2026 the year we go further, faster, and stronger. For my dad, for the families, and for everyone affected by dementia—thank you for joining me on this journey.

Let’s do this—together.
