Story

A group of us are joining Maisie’s quest to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours. Not satisfied with going solo, she’s enlisted some willing and able ( debatable! ) volunteers who are all up for the challenge as well.

Climbers are Maisie, Josie and Iain, Emily, Seren, Charlie, Nisha, Ben and she’s roped me in for my 50th birthday present, 10 years after my first attempt ( with Iain!)

A massive thanks to Del, who is offering his minibus driving skills for the duration of the challenge and will act as base camp at each mountain, along with Trevor and Matt as support crew.

Maisie has climbed all Three Peaks separately before she was 12 years old and has been nagging us for years to have a go at the full Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon ( with all the drivey bits) in just 24 hours.

It is roughly 26 miles up and down the peaks in 14 hours and then 10 hours to drive between them.

We have been incredibly fortunate to have been donated the use of a minibus for the challenge by a local charity, Ride High, so to support us all with our physical and mental challenge and to support a fantastic charity at the same time, we’d really appreciate a small donation, £1, £5 or whatever you can afford.

Here are some details of Ride High, so you can see who and what you’re supporting.

Ride High is a registered charity based in the vibrant city of Milton Keynes, supporting children across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire. We are proud of our community and the important role we play within it, but many young people face huge challenges as a result of poverty, neglect and abuse, isolation and poor mental health, which makes them vulnerable to a number of risks and can have a detrimental impact on their future.

We address these challenges by offering vulnerable young people a fun and educational programme that boosts their wellbeing and encourages a healthy lifestyle. Through physical activity in the great outdoors and the creation of positive relationships with people and animals, children develop the skills and self-confidence to thrive.
