Story
Hi everybody and thank you for visiting our page. Jess and I are actively trying to raise awareness and financial support for the Group B Strep (GBS) charity.
With both of us being completely in the dark about what GBS was when our little girl Hettie was born, we were totally unaware of what she was about to go through in the first 2 weeks of her life.
Whilst we remind ourselves every day, that we are absolutely the lucky ones, it’s clear that through more awareness and financial support, more life threatening GBS infections could be prevented. This infection caused Hettie to develop sepsis, pneumonia and meningitis and knowing the signs of these infections alone is so so important.
To continue to raise awareness of Strep B following our half marathon, Jess and I are currently training hard to run in our first full marathon.
We would really appreciate any donation you may be able to offer but also please share this page and have a read of the information below and most importantly… Please help us raise awareness!!!
Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months.
On average in the UK, at least
-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection
-one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and
-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.
Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.
