Story
Matt and Joanna Lee are setting out to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money in aid of housing charity Shelter.
In the UK, thousands and thousands of people are currently living homeless or in temporary accommodation. The number of children alone who are in that situation in England has rocketed to 151,630 - that's enough to almost fill Wembley Stadium twice.
Everyone has a different experience. While society may hold stereotypes or preconceptions around homelessness and housing needs, the truth is that anyone can experience unexpected changes in circumstances that could result in homelessness and needing help and support.
Not everyone, however, has access to the help they need. Shelter works to change this and ensure everyone is looked after.
That's why we're running the London Landmarks in aid of Shelter. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause.
About Matt & Jo
Matt's ran a half-marathon before - albeit not for a long time. A keen cross-country runner, he's always had an interest in running and being outdoors. Despite it being six years since his last half-marathon, Matt's ambitiously hoping to beat his previous time of 2:20:38 this time around.
Jo, on the other hand, is aiming simply to run the half-marathon... however long that takes! Jo couldn't exactly be described as a keen runner, and was a little daunted when she realised just how far half a marathon was... Still, she's proud of the progress she's making and hopes it will all be worth it for the funds that will be raised.
More About Shelter
Shelter helps over a million people a year struggling with bad housing or homelessness, and they also campaign to prevent it in the first place. They are here so no-one has to fight bad housing or homelessness on their own.
