Story
I am not and have never been a runner and yet here I am running one of the world's most famous marathons for the amazing charity, Beat.
Beat aims to the end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. This is a cause that means a great deal to me given the journey my sister, Sophie has been on.
For those of you who don't know, Sophie has battled anorexia that has seen her in and out of hospital for over 10 years. Through her personal struggle I have seen the all-encompassing nature of an eating disorder and the impact it can have not only on the person dealing with the illness, but their loved ones as well.
Beat provides advice to family and friends who may have not encountered or dealt with an illness of this kind before and also run a helpline to aid people who are seeking much needed support.
Through my own personal experience, I know how valuable these types of services can be in providing context and understanding whilst also facilitating help for those who may not even admit they are in need of support in the first place.
So please, if you are able to support Beat then give generously and I will try not to embarrass myself on the big day.
