Alleyn’s Year 8 for Live Luke's Dreams + Emma

Matt Lockwood is raising money for Live Luke's Dreams
In memory of Luke + Emma

Thames Barrier to Alleyn’s Regents Park · 3 July 2026

Live Luke’s Dreams is a small charity created in honour of a little boy called Luke. We aim to keep Luke's memory alive whilst supporting the wellbeing of children who have been diagnosed with a childhood cancer, and are receiving treatment under Barnet Hospital's paediatric oncology shared care. From gifts during hospital stays, memory making days out, weekends away, financial support and many other things inbetween. The support we offer is as individual as the families we offer it to.

Story

Each year, our Year 8 boys take on a remarkable challenge: walking from the Thames Barrier back to Regent’s Park, a journey of over 20 kilometres. It is not always easy. Some years the sun beats down relentlessly; other years the rain seems determined to accompany us every step of the way. Yet, year after year, the boys show resilience, determination, and teamwork, supporting one another and always finding a way to reach the finish line together.

We undertake this walk in support of Live Luke’s Dreams, a charity that remains very close to our hearts. The charity continues to do wonderful work in Luke’s memory, bringing joy and support to children and families facing unimaginable challenges.

This year, the walk carries even greater significance. Mr Lockwood will also be walking in memory of his sister, whom he sadly lost recently.

Walking for both Luke and Emma will be a great honour. The kindness, generosity, goodwill, and funds raised through this event over the years have provided comfort, hope, and moments of genuine happiness during some very challenging times. Every donation, every word of encouragement, and every step taken helps to keep those memories alive and supports causes that continue to make a real difference.

This year, the entire school community will be involved, with pupils across the school walking their own distances to contribute to the collective effort. It has become one of the most important and treasured days in our school calendar—a day that reflects our values of courage, compassion, perseverance, and community.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 8 boys and of everyone taking part. Thank you for your support, generosity, and encouragement. Together, we can honour cherished memories, celebrate remarkable young people, and continue making a difference for others.
